„OUT OF THE BLUE” - Bodecker & Neander Company – France/Germany
A plane crashes in a wasteland... happy to be alive, a musician – a virtuoso double bass player – opens a miraculously intact case in order to reconnect with the instrument – and faces a stowaway that had hidden in the case. Where, then, is the double bass? A desperate tragic-comic search begins that often crosses the threshold between the real and the imagined.
Two mimes, Alexander Neander and Wolfram von Bodecker, take the audience on an exciting journey through ever-changing space of the stage: an office becomes a ship, a grand piano... the story is composed of tales that smoothly transition from one into another. But the instrument is still gone. A mysterious little book seems to hold the solution to this puzzle. Will the heroes manage to find the correct magical spell?
"Out Of The Blue" uses a wide array of theatre techniques, such as black theatre, the theatre of the object, as well as a few magic tricks, always played in a very subtle way, in accordance with the art of mime.
Directed by: Lionel Ménard
Lights: Didier Brun
Music: Franck Gervais
Starring: Wolfram von Bodecker and Alexander Neander

Bodecker Neander Compagnie
In 1996, after ending their studies in „École Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris” under the tutelage of Marcel Marceau, Wolfram von Bodecker and Alexander Neander brought Théâtre Mimo Magique to life. Since 2006, they’ve used the name „Compagnie Bodecker Neander”. Their first show, titled “Silence”, received the „Berlin Audience Award”, and their next production „Out of the blue” was a major success both among the audiences and the critics.
The artistic couple presents the idea of a „visual concerto”: during joint performances with large groups of musicians, such as: „Stuttgarter Kammerorchester”, London’s „Arditti Quartet” or Liepzig’s „Gewandhaus-Oktett”, they uncover a new, fascinating combination of pantomime and music to their audiences. During numerous world-spanning tours „Compagnie Bodecker Neander” has travelled across Europe, Asia, North and South America. Thanks to the universal scope of visual theatre of this pair of mimes, they are particularly valued as guests at international festivals. All their productions are created in cooperation with the director Lionel Ménard.
