Tout Seul - Chloe Albaret - France - Premiere!
11.10.2024 Friday 18.00 - Ursynowskie Centrum Kultury "Alternatywy" - Bareja stage. Duration 30 min. Audience 16+
Tout Seul (All Alone) invites the audience to sneak into a home and witness, up close, a person's emotional journey. Through theater, music, and movement, we explore the phenomenon of isolation and the strategies used to cope with it. Self-love and/or self-harm – this fine line seems to blur when substances begin to take effect.
This piece of physical theater was originally created for a male body (Quentin Roger). It is constructed from various layers of expression, orbiting around the theme of loneliness, with a sensitive perspective, embracing both beauty and violence.
Our performer, Chloé Albaret, a former long-time dancer with the Nederlands Dans Theater and a Zwaan Award nominee, delves into the intimate corners of her existence to capture the purest of emotions. Raw emotions that transform into movement. Into expression.
Creator and choreographer Quentin Roger, along with Chloé, both have unique backgrounds in contemporary dance, having previously worked with internationally renowned choreographers and dance companies. This work challenges them to move away from what they know and master, creating a language that intuitively embraces theater. Quentin developed Tout Seul as a study of expressive movement, seeking to define the moment when movement becomes dance.
The work is inspired by the Japanese phenomenon of Kodokushi (Lonely Death), which reveals the lives of people who die alone in their homes, remaining undiscovered for long periods. Quentin's continued interest in cinema led him to create a film adaptation of Tout Seul called Kodokushi, which is set for release in winter 2024.
