As part of the 26th International Mime Art Festival, we invite you to take part in masterclasses led by Jolanda Löllmann and Charlie Denat, creators of the performance "Short Stories" and founders of the French company Le DÍRTZtheatre.

Their work is situated at the intersection of physical theatre, pantomime, dance, circus and puppet theatre. The artists develop their own stage language, in which the precision of movement meets the poetics of image, humour, metaphor and a particular sensitivity to the relationship between the performer's body and the animated form. Le DÍRTZtheatre was founded in 2018 by Jolanda Löllmann and Charlie Denat, interdisciplinary artists exploring the boundaries between dance, circus and puppetry.

The workshops will offer a practical encounter with the working method of artists who build stage worlds through the body, rhythm, presence, object manipulation and precise composition of actions. Participants will work on the quality of movement, awareness of gesture, the relationship with a partner and an object, as well as ways of creating short stage situations without the use of words.

The classes are intended for actors, mime artists, dancers, performers, puppeteers, students of art schools and all those interested in physical, visual and non-verbal theatre.

This is an encounter with artists whose work shows that contemporary mime art can grow both from the actor's body and from the relationship with matter, object, puppet and space. Their stage world, as descriptions of the company emphasise, willingly uses humour, dreamlike imagery and metaphor, avoiding literalness in favour of image and action.

The workshop is open to participants with experience in physical theatre.
