A poetic pantomime performance for younger and older audiences alike. Through movement, image and music, it tells a story about friendship, loneliness, the need for closeness and the search for one's own place in the world. The characters set off on a journey through a land of imagination, discovering the meaning of cooperation, trust and mutual support.

"My Island", directed by Bartłomiej Ostapczuk, is a production of the Kubuś Puppet and Actor Theatre in Kielce, one of Poland's most important puppet theatre stages, which has also been developing the art of pantomime for many years. Without using words, the creators build a moving story about relationships, emotions and the need to be together. The island of the title becomes a metaphor for our dreams, fears and the places we call home. Full of warmth and subtle humour, the performance develops imagination, empathy and sensitivity, encouraging reflection on what community is and why it is worth being together despite the differences that divide us.

The Stefan Karski Kubuś Puppet and Actor Theatre in Kielce has been active since 1955. It was founded by Stefan Karski, who gave the theatre a name referring to "Kubuś", the only armoured car used during the Warsaw Uprising. From the very beginning, the theatre has consistently developed the art of puppetry, combining it with sensitivity towards young audiences, literature, visual arts and live acting.

Over the years, Kubuś has built its position as an important artistic institution in the region, presenting performances for children, young people and adults, as well as carrying out numerous educational and festival activities. A special place in the theatre's history is held by the Theatre Puppet Gallery, the first gallery of its kind in Poland, presenting puppets created over several decades of the theatre's activity. As one of the few stages in Poland, the theatre has also been presenting pantomime performances for many years, introducing into its repertoire an art based on movement, image and theatrical silence.

In 2024, the theatre began a new chapter in its history, moving to a modern venue at 1 Zamkowa Street, located in one of the most beautiful parts of Kielce. Two stages, modern technical facilities and an immersive sound system open up new staging possibilities for artists.

The repertoire of Kubuś is based on adaptations of classics of Polish and world literature, contemporary drama and original artistic projects. The theatre collaborates with outstanding artists from Poland and abroad, remaining a meeting place for the tradition of puppet theatre and the modern language of the stage, including the unique and rarely present in institutional repertoires art of pantomime.
